Hey Founders!
I’m Tatem 👋
Each week I’ll surface the TikTok formats going viral before they become obvious. It’s what's working right now, why it works, and how you can use it.

This Week's Quick Take
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Being goofy is going to propel you forward. If you’re too uptight, your account won’t grow.

Trend 1 — The Suspect Is Closer Than He Thinks Trend
As a founder, you’re probably delegating every day.
Let’s highlight that and have a little fun with it.
Record yourself walking and follow this template for the on-screen text:
When [insert person here] asks how I’m going to [insert task here] but the suspect is closer than [he/she] thinks.
Why it Works For You:
I bet you have a team member who has basically become your right-hand man.
What are some tasks you’ve had them do?
The more relatable, the better.
Here are some ideas:
Running to FedEx 5 mins before it closes
Chasing down unpaid invoices
Presenting product demos

Trend 2 — The Hey Leo Trend
Okay, this one is hilarious!
You get a little more leeway, so throw your thinking cap on.
Take this scene from Inception and splice it up.
In between Leo’s responses, “chat” with him about your company.
Why it Works For You:
This is a fun way to show off your personality while talking about your product.
One important thing to note:
Don’t talk about your product TOO much.
I know that it’s easy to treat this idea like a pitch, but don’t give in.
RESIST THE URGE.
Instead, you want 90% of it to be humorous while the remaining 10% talks about your product.
The goal of this video is virality > sale.
If people find it entertaining, they’ll go to your profile and learn more.
TRUST. ME.

Trend 3 — The Explaining In Gen Z Terms Trend
Last but not least.
Time to outsource to someone much cooler than you: Gen Z.
Kidding.
(I’m Gen Z so I had to roast you.)
But don’t worry, now it’s your turn.
This video concept is very straightforward.
If you’re pitching your company, product, or an idea to Gen Z, how would you do it?
Why it Works For You:
This trend allows you to tap into a younger audience in an informal way.
You’re going to need a vocab lesson, though.
Let me help:
No cap - not lying
Rizz - short for charisma
Ate - did a good job
Cooked - the outcome is not looking good (unless you’re saying “someone cooked here." In that case, that’s good.)
Locked in - extremely focused
Aura - level of coolness (measured in points)
Peak - best
Red flag - warning sign
Touch grass - get offline
Believe it or not, this is a real paragraph:
Anna locked in this summer, and now her makeup EATS. Ryan tried to rizz her up yesterday, but he’s a walking red flag, so she rejected him. Now his dating life is cooked for the rest of the year. Talk about negative aura points.
