Hey Founders!

Ever see a trend and think, “Funny, but how would I use this for my company?”

That’s the part we’re here for.

A trending sound gives you the setup. Your customers, your product, and the very specific things that happen at your company give you the punchline.

Let’s get into this week’s trends and how you can make them yours!

This Week's Quick Take

Specific beats clever. "Startup life is hard" gets a scroll. "Payroll is Friday and the wire is still pending" gets a comment, because people can only relate to what they can picture.

Trend 1 — The Grrr Mondays Trend

What's something small that ruins your whole Monday?

This one is the easiest video you'll make all week. Point your phone at the annoying thing, put "#grrrmondays" on screen, and post it. That's it!

Or lip-sync the audio ("Hang on, I gotta post this on Facebook. Hashtag grrr Mondays.") with your Monday problem in text on screen.

The trades are all over this one. An electrician filmed a pipe with a tiny drill hole in it and got 1.2M views. No face, no talking.

Why it Works For You:

Every founder has a Monday. Relatability is the cheat code, and the more specific your problem, the more people will feel seen.

Here are some ideas:

  • Your Stripe payout, still "pending"

  • The bug that shipped Friday at 5:58pm

  • 47 unread Slack messages, all from one person

  • The customer who replied "per my last email"

Trend 2 — The I Just Wanna Be Ok Trend

Ahhh, this is the perfect trend for a stressed-out founder.

Film yourself looking totally carefree. Big smile, coffee in hand, maybe a little dance. Then add text about the thing you are very much NOT fine about and use the "I just wanna be ok" audio.

[Me smiling through] [the thing you're spiraling about]

Why it Works For You:

The joke is the gap between your face and your text. The bigger the smile, the funnier it gets.

It's also a sneaky way to show the struggle. People love following a founder who's honest about the hard parts, and they'll comment with their own version.

Here are some ideas:

  • Me 4 days before payroll

  • Waiting to hear back from the investor who said "love this, let me loop in my partner"

  • When the demo is in 10 minutes and staging is down

  • Me pretending I didn't just see our churn number

Trend 3 — The My Reaction To Trend

This one is BLOWING UP right now!

Almost every video on this sound was posted in the last two weeks.

The setup is simple. Text on screen says "My reaction to [something someone says to you]." Then the answer pops up, and you give the camera your most dramatic face.

My reaction to [a question you get all the time]: [the answer]

Why it Works For You:

You get to show what you know without lecturing anyone.

My favorite example is from a hair oil brand. "Reacting to you telling me you hair oil for: 2 hours." Two women, a horrified face, and the bottle sitting right there on the table. 1.3M views. It's a product video that feels like a joke.

Here are some ideas:

  • My reaction to the salary it would take for me to go back to a 9-to-5

  • My reaction to "can you just make it pop?"

  • My reaction to how long you think it takes to build an app

  • My reaction to "we have no budget, but it's great exposure"
